Pet Rock
A few months ago we went to a playgroup activity where the kids painted pet rocks. The older kids put pipe cleaner legs and googly eyes on theirs. William was content with just painting his rock. Once it dried, he would NOT put it down. It was his little friend. I didn't have the heart to toss it, or chuck it outside in the yard to be lost. I put it in his room on his dresser so he could see it. Every morning, he wants to take the rock down and carry it around throughout the day. Knowing how he has a thing for throwing stuff, I had to convince him the dresser was the best place for "Rock." Now that William is in his toddler bed, he has discovered that he can get out of bed at night. For the past three mornings, I've found Rock somewhere in William's bed. Sometimes it's under his pillow, other times it's at the foot of the bed. Why couldn't he bond with something more cuddly and less dusty?
Oh, just let the boy have his rock. At least he's not playing with my little ponies or something.
ReplyDeleteThis is pretty much the most awesome thing I've read all day! Kids are so weird don't you think?
ReplyDeleteBoys are silly- I gave Adam a Teddy Bear- no that wasn't cool enough for him, every night when I go to check on him I find his huge Tonka Dump Truck in his bed?! So william is just one of the boys!!
ReplyDeleteHow cute is he. Ahh. YOu want a girl. I want a boy. Let's trade!! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun project to do. I think Jillian would love a pet rock too. She got a glow in the dark necklace at the Trunk or treat and went to bed with it on her dresser. When we went in to check on her later she was sleeping with it around her neck.
ReplyDeleteThat is the best thing I've ever heard!!! Who knew that instead of taking him to play groups you could just throw him in the garden with some dirt and rocks, and he has his own little support group. I love him!
ReplyDeleteThat's too cute!
