My Quirky Son

William speaks more and more every day and he never ceases to amaze me with the things he picks up. But not only is he speaking more, he is actually funny! Well, as funny as a 2 year old can be. Here are a few things he's done to make me laugh.

He was in the tub and he tooted and like a boy, started giggling. I asked, "What was that?" He said, "A toot!" then laughed and laughed. Now whenever he is in the tub, he'll splash a little with his foot and say "What's that? A toot?"

William has a few favorite TV shows I have on our DVR. When I ask him what he would like to watch he likes to see if he can confuse me. For example I'll ask, "Do you want Max and Ruby, Backyardigans, or Wubbzy?" He'll answer (with a cheezy grin) "Backyardi-WUBBZY!" or "Wubbzi- RUBY!"

He pretends to be a puppy all the time. He'll say, "Puppy!" and then he'll chase me around the front room on all fours trying to "puppy-kiss" me with his tongue hanging out. If he catches me, he'll lick my arm or cheek and then he'll say, "puppy tickles!" and start to tickle me. Then he'll take his snack and try to eat off the floor (eww!) I gave him a "puppy bowl" that he eats out of head first.

We had a Family Home Evening activity where I was trying to teach William how to show love for others and that it makes us happy. Now, he'll ask if I'm happy and usually it's right after I've gotten after him for something, so I'll say, "No, I'm not happy right now." Then he'll run up to me and give me a big hug and kiss. Then he'll ask again if I'm happy. Who wouldn't be after that?! Oh, and if I ask him if he's happy and he ALWAYS says, "no" until I give him hugs and kisses. Then he'll answer "yes."

William LOVES hats. Weird huh? He found is tiny baby cap and stretched that thing on his huge head. It looked like a red yamaka. He got upset when I took it off him and explained it was too small. He loves to wear jackets with hoods. He has a couple of jackets without hoods and he will pull the top over his head anyway so he looks like he doesn't have a neck. He is completely serious about it which makes it so funny.

I know every mother must feel this way about their kids, but I thought I'd share a little about what makes me laugh at home.

Blog Don't's

I've been reading blogs for a while now and I've compiled a list of things that annoy me while reading blogs. I'm not singling anyone out or saying I won't read your blog if you are guilty of any of the following. I'm just shaking things up a bit here.

• First of all, I HATE blog soundtracks! This is when someone has music playing when you enter their blog. This is so annoying because I'm usually listening to something else already on the computer and it's intrusive. And usually I don't like the song that comes on so it's double yuck.
• I also think it's annoying when someone only writes about their kids and nothing else. I mean, okay, your son likes Dora or Diego, I GET IT! 20 posts about it isn't going to convince me any more.
• I HATE it when people lie on their blogs. I don't know who they think they're kidding?! Word gets around and it just makes them look silly! I hate it.
• I'm guilty of this one sometimes (okay maybe now), but I hate it when blogs are difficult to read. That is, when the background is too distracting or the font is too similar in color to the background to read. It hurts my eyes.
  
• I also hate when people refer to their blogs as their journals and therefore write as such. I mean, really, it's the internet. You don't get more public than that. It's not a place for your private thoughts, it's a place for your public thoughts. Get a paper journal if you're going to write how much you hate someone or how bad your cramps or anything else that is too personal.
  
• Speaking of private, I hate it when people have their blogs go private and don't tell you. Actually private blogs are already annoying, but being closed out and told that I have to send an email to ask to read their blog is no fun. I personally don't think that some stalker is out there reading my boring blog. Even if there is someone I don't know reading, who cares? Like they can do anything to me, except make comments. I don't get the whole paranoia thing.
• And finally, I don't like it when people take months and months to update their blog. It's no fun checking out a blog that still has a Christmas post in April. Boo!
  

I hope no one is really offended. Just think of it as constructive criticism from one bored blogger. What are your Do's and Don't's of blogging?

Happy 5th Anniversary!

I can't believe it's been 5 years since Sean and I said "I do." In some ways it seems like it was just yesterday. In other ways it seems like I've been married forever (but in a good way!) Just because I feel like it, here is a list of some things we've done since we were married.

2004
Went on a Royal Caribbean cruise for our honeymoon.
Toured Maya ruins
We were apartment managers for the first 2 years of our marriage in Chico, California.
Toured Washington D.C. (it was a bigger deal when we lived across the country)
Had an ectopic pregnancy that resulted in emergency surgery.
2005
Sean swore in to the US Navy
Were sealed in the Oakland Temple
Went to Philadelphia
Went to Arizona
Went to Salt Lake City, Utah
2006
Sean graduated from CSU Chico (cum laude)
Gave birth to William
Moved to Yuba City, California
Sean graduated from Officer Candidate School - became an Ensign
Drove across the country
2007
Moved to Athens, Georgia
Bought our first house in Portsmouth, Virginia
Got stationed in Norfolk
Sean left for a seven month deployment
2008
Bought our first pieces of new furniture (2 chairs)
Sean returns from deployment
Went to visit California
Got a second car
Sean got promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade

Anyway, it was a little sad this year because Sean was at sea (again!) today. I cleaned the house, did some laundry and played with William out in the yard. I got a nice big bouquet of Casablanca Lilies from Sean and he called me later from the ship. It was great. Then, since I couldn't go out on a date with Sean, I went out with his little clone. William and I had a great time at Red Robin. Then we watched a movie with popcorn at home. All in all, it wasn't too bad. Here's to another 5 great years!

It's Been a Slow Week. . .

I thought this was pretty funny. William thinks it's hilarious. The microphone is repeating what he is saying at a 3 second delay. This program called Babbleback keeps him entertained for about an hour at a time.
