Ten Virgin's Musical

My ward did a musical presentation of The Ten Virgins. It was quite the production. We worked really hard on it. It's a shame it was only for our ward's Relief Society birthday celebration. I played a wise virgin who was known throughout the village as being a woman of service. I know that the fourth picture down looks like I was a woman of "cold ones." That was supposed to be a vessel for extra oil for my lamp. I had a lot of fun with this. I had forgotten how much I love being on the stage. Can't wait for the next production!

Lunch on the Beach

Living in Hampton Roads has it's set backs but it definitely has it's perks. I love living close to the beach. A trip to Virginia Beach was definitely on the agenda for my mom's visit. We decided to go for lunch at Waterman's Grill. This place was really great. The seafood was great and the atmosphere was fun. We were right on the boardwalk and our window faced the ocean. It was fun watching the ships go by and the waves rolling on the beach. William was surprisingly good. Another couple came with a baby in a high chair and he waived at the other kid and said, "Hi, baby." Oh my goodness! I couldn't believe it. He said two words together and he wasn't mimicking me! It's a shame I was the only one who heard it and he wouldn't repeat it. After lunch we walked a bit down the Virginia Beach front, but it was off season and no one was there and most stores were closed so we didn't stay long. It was a short visit but a nice one.

Lil' Helper

When my mom came out to visit, she took one look at my backyard and said it was time to, "stop the madness." There were oak leaves everywhere and seed pods and acorn caps all over the yard. So I bought some flowers, extra work gloves, and another garden rake and we got to work out there. I was afraid William would be a distraction. I don't have a fence and even though our streets are not busy, cars still race down them. I didn't want William running out in the street while I was not looking. Fortunately I didn't have to worry about that. He was too interested in what we were doing. He saw my mom and I raking leaves so he picked up a large stick and stirred up the leaves around in attempt to rake them up like the grown ups. Then he saw us picking up large piles and dumping the leaves into a trash bag. William wanted to help with this too, so he would pick up a few leaves or whatever he could hold in his small hands and reach up and drop them in the bag. Then we took him for a ride in the wheelbarrow. I remember my dad taking me for rides in the wheelbarrow after a day of yard work. What a big boy, helping out with the yard work.

Going to the Barber

William is such a trooper when getting his haircut. It always surprises the barber when this wiggly toddler is placed on the chair by himself and is immediately still. I have to give Sean the credit for this. He introduced the electric hair trimmers to William at a very young age and so he knows how to hold still and is not afraid of the buzzing from the trimmers. Thank goodness I don't have to sit there with him screaming and struggling on my lap. What a brave little guy. I'd be terrified!
