William and I headed out for a short road trip to Philadelphia to visit my brother's family and go to the Please Touch Museum. Too bad I didn't get to see Darrin (he had school, meetings and interviews), but we had a great time anyway.

My Little Piano Guy

There's not a whole lot going on here but I wanted to post something new. I love these pictures. Sean took these one Sunday afternoon while William was plunking out some melody on the piano. He reminds me of myself when I was about his age. I was always drawn to pianos. We didn't own one until I was eleven but I would always find a way to play whenever I found one. I would make up little melodies and compose my own songs without really knowing what I was doing. I still love to play and I hope William has the same love of music that I do.

Getting Crafty

It's been a rough week with all the snow and going a little crazy from being shut in for so long but at least it's forced me to try some new things. I got out my Cricut (best Christmas gift!) and tried it out on some vinyl lettering. I've been putting off this experiment because vinyl at the craft store is expensive and I'm still a beginner "Cricutter." I didn't want to waste vinyl on mistakes. Anyway, it wasn't as hard as I had expected. I didn't use contact paper so it was like peeling and placing stickers. I learned that working SLOW is the key as to not stretch the cut out. Also, when adhering vinyl to glass, it can be peeled off and repositioned if you make a mistake. Just as long as you do it CAREFULLY. I got the clear glass jar pretty cheap at Wal Mart and the lettering is the Alphalicious font. If I were to do it again, I'd make the letters smaller. Other than that, I love my new laundry soap jar! I'm off to my next project. I'll post it when it's finished . . . and if it's cute enough to share!

Cake Truffles

When the weather is cold and I'm stuck inside, I get the urge to bake treats. I got this excellent recipe from Bakerella and holy cow, these are DIVINE! I used a yellow cake mix and melted milk chocolate chips. You can use any flavor of cake and Wilton's Candy Melts for variety. You can also put in a sucker stick to make Cake Pops. I'm telling you, these are super addictive because it's the perfect combination of easy to make and delicious to eat.

Oh Snow!

We got dumped on all last night and this morning. The most snow we've had since we've moved here by far. It's funny that when we moved here everyone assured us that it didn't snow very often and when it does, it doesn't stick for very long. I'm starting to doubt that as this is our 4 or 5 snowstorm and we're only halfway into winter. Anyway, at least the boys had fun. As for me, I'm ready for spring.
